TRJ - #1

WRITER'S CRAFT

This book starts out with an unusual beginning. It starts from the presnt, and goes back a year for the beginning of the actual story of the novel. The year 1665, our main character, Anna Frith, describes how the enormous disaster of a plague occur in the tiny village. This peculiar little village, distant from other main cities in England, has been a peaceful and tranquil village until... a man, George Viccars, enters the stage. Well, what's so bad about a man?Is he a big deal? Does it matter?

Yes, it matters. In fact, IT MATTERS VERY MUCH. The man who is a journeyman tailor causes the most intense devastation and sweeps the village of melancholic death and depression that no one has ever experienced. The plague, the enemy rapidly spreads and takes the life of old ones, young ones, and tries on anyone on its way. The villagers, though they are exhausted and want to flee to other places where their kins would recieve them, they plant their feet on the ground and try to stay firm while they are swayed like reeds in the middle of the wind. Forcing themselves to think that this is a hard test that God has given us, they seek of ways to cure this terrible plague. Will these villagers survive?

Your book seems like a wonderful novel to read. I usually look for fast beginnings in the book because I can't stand it if the book is slow in the first part. As for this book, do you think that there is a cure for this plague? I argue that if the village people really try to protect themselves by eating medicine and going to the doctor, this situation would have never happened for the villagers. Do you think it is partly the villager's fault? Can a one man really cause that much disaster without anyother's help? I wonder what is it about that man that causes him to lead a village into disasterous death.

I think unusual beginnings of a book always attracts people, and I was very interested in this book after I read your first TRJ. We usually think travelers do not matter to the village very much, but there is an exception somehow, like it is in the book you read. When a traveler matters very much, and the story is very interesting, I would love try it!

Hello^^!
I haven’t read this book before but it sounds like a really interesting book. First of all I was wondering if this book starts out with an unusual beginning or not. Because I have read some books that starts from the present and goes back to the past. I don’t know exactly when the past part starts from the book, but I have thought from the first part of your writer’s craft. In the first paragraph I like your short summary which explains a lot, also I like your question. And in the second paragraph I got the answer that I was wondering when I read your question. But I didn’t got the answer “what was his main purpose?” In second paragraph it says “The man who is a journeyman tailor causes…” Why did journey man do such a horrible things? How was he relate with the villagers?
The last sentence in last paragraph was very interesting to me. Humm.. I have thought about that question and I think the villagers have survived. Because in the previous sentence they thought that is was a hard test that God has given to them, so they might have find an another way to survive. I don’t know the result of this book. Did villagers survived?
Your two paragraphs sound really interesting. I really want to read that book someday. I really enjoyed reading your Writer’s Craft! Nice work!
